VCSU Football Names Two More Team Captains

August 30, 2013

The Valley City State football team has announced its team captains for the 2013 season.

The Vikings named Matt Craft and Jake Miller as new team captains to join Jake Thurston and George Trujillo, who were named team captains following spring practice.

Craft is a senior defensive lineman from Fairbanks, Alaska, who recorded 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season. Miller, a junior tight end from Rolla, N.D., had eight catches for 75 yards last season and is expected to play a much bigger role in 2013.

Thurston is a two-time all-conference selection who will start at linebacker this season. The senior from Bottineau, N.D., had 56 tackles and two tackles for loss last season, primarily at defensive back. Trujillo, a junior offensive lineman from El Paso, Texas, was named all-conference in 2012 and will anchor the 2013 offensive line.

The four captains lead the Vikings into their season opener Saturday, Aug. 31, at rival University of Jamestown. Follow the Vikings all season long at http://vikings.vcsu.edu.
