VCSU basketball gets recruit; VCSU baseball/softball; Xpress wrestling

April 6, 2012

Valley City State University mens basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky announced earlier this week that Sedrick Jennings, originally from Killeen High School in Killeen, Texas, has signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program for next season.
He spent last season at Temple (Tex.) College and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Vikings.
“We are excited to have Sedrick join our program. He has experienced a high level of success in an extremely competitive area of Texas high school basketball,” Kaminsky said. “Sedrick’s ability to score will add another perimeter weapon to our offense. Being from a highly successful program, Sedrick understands how to use his ability and be unselfish at the same time. His athleticism will be a great fit in our defenseive system. He has the character, work ethic, and ability that make him a welcomed addition to our program.”
Jennings played a major role in his senior season at Killeen and helped lead his team to a 31-4 record. He averaged 13.2 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He was named 1st Team All-District in District 8-4A his senior season.
Sedrick Jennings is the fourth student-athlete from Killeen to join the Viking Program under Kaminsky. Former standout Ray King and current Vikings A.J. McDonald and Malcolm McDonald also went to high school in the area.
VCSU baseball, softball games moved
Due to stormy weather expected to hit North Dakota this weekend, the Valley City State University baseball and softball teams are moving this weekend’s schedule up a day.
Rather than play a Friday/Saturday schedule against Dickinson State, both teams will be hosting the Blue Hawks today and Friday in Valley City.
The softball team plays starting at 2 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Friday and baseball has an 11 a.m. start today, noon Friday.
VC Express does well in Iowa

Both Zach Doty, who took fouth place in the Cadet 170 pound division, and Brandon Larson, who took fifth in Junior 195, were named All-Americans at the tournament.
Shane Undem, Reed Beckman, Mark Miller, Dustin Lindgren and Parker Larson also participated in the tournament but missed placing.
