Thoughts from coach Matt Nielson:

West Fargo is the definite #2 team in the East Region. Chad Anderson has done a great job with his program bringing them from nonexistence into prominence in about 5 years. The scary thing is that three of his top four are only 10th graders.

Our #1 doubles team came out again and played the best match of the day going 6-3, 6-4 against a very tough team and probably the #1 or #2 doubles team in the region. We were down 5-2 in the second set and fought back to 5-4 before West Fargo put the match away.

Jessica Gylden competed in her first ever varsity match. The lengthy junior played excellent net at #3 doubles and proved that she can play at the varsity level. She also played a JV singles match and came away with the only win at the varsity site on the day.

Tomorrow's match against Grand Forks Central is going to be fun. They beat Wahpeton 6-3 and we beat Wahpeton 7-2. We should be very evenly matched. We lost 4-5 to them last year during the regular season and beat them 3-2 at regionals. They are returning most of their squad from last year. A tough test that our girls are ready for.
