VCFD Holding Annual Smoker Tonight at VFW

February 1, 2013

The Valley City Fire Department will hold their annual smoker Friday evening at the Veterans of Foreign Wars club in Valley City.

The annual fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. and the entrance fee is $10.

“We try to put the money (raised) towards certain equipment we need, smaller items like flashlights and small tools, something that we need that we use quite often,” Fire Chief Gary Retterath said. “Just so we can keep up with the equipment, make sure we have the equipment we need.”

During the smoker, the VCFD does raffles and sells bacon, ham, groceries and guns.

“And there’s plenty of food to eat,” Retterath said. “Lots of good fellowship and fun and games to play.”

A pinochle tournament will begin at about 7:30 p.m. also.

“Come enjoy good warm fellowship,” Retterath said. “It’s going to be kind of a cool night I think.”
