VC Needs Firefighters

October 16, 2013

The Valley City Volunteer Fire Department is looking for a few good men and women. Currently, the fire department is looking to hire new firefighters who are willing to make a commitment to their community.
"We are asking you to help us so we can help others," said VCFD Chief Gary Retterath in a press release.
Applicants must be able to pass a drug screen, a physical examination and an agility test. The fire department will provide training. "You have to be able to lift, carry, pull and drag, said Retterath Tuesday.
In addition, firefighters are expected to attend two drills per month, one of which includes a meeting.
"We want people to realize there is a commitment to this," Retterath said.
