Valley Twisters do well at state
The Valley Twisters gymnastics team improved on an already great season earlier this month at the USA Gymnastics state championships in Bismarck.
Over 200 gymnasts from all across the state competed in the three-day meet.
The team was lead by Taylor Johnson, a Level 8 gymnast, who rejoined the Twisters after her first season in high school gymnastics. She placed second on the floor with a 9.225 and took third in the beam. She also placed sixth on the bars and eighth on the vault. Her all around score of 34.150 was good for sixth place and also qualified her for the 2012
USAG Region 4 Championships in Minneapolis later this month.
Kennadee Jorissen, the lone Level 6 competitor for the Twisters, took second place on the beam with a 9.225 and was third on the Floor. She also took sixth on the Vault.
In Level 5 competition Alyssa Baade scored 9.0 on her floor routine to give her seventh place. She placed ninth on the Bars and 10th on the Beam. Baade also took ninth in the all around. Hannah Sorensen was sixth on the Bars and sixth on the Floor. Sorensen also placed seventh on the Vault and 10th on the Beam. Her all around score, 32.50, was good for eighth place.
Individually the Level 4’s also did well. In the 9-year-old age group Jennifer Anderson took third place on the vault with a personal best score of 9.425. Her Bar routine would earn her a second place medal with a 9.225, also her best on the season. Anderson finished 10th on the Floor. Her season high All Around score of 36.35 would earn her a seventh place medal. Jocey Kriewald’s 9.225 was good for a fifth place finish on Beam. Her Vault score of 9.30 earned her a tie for sixth place. Kriewald also took ninth on Floor as well as 10th on Bars. In the all around Kriewald took eighth place with a 36.125. Olivia Olson was awarded 10 place for her 9.10 on Beam.
Michaela Thibert, competing in the 10-11 age group of Level 4, placed second on the Beam with a 9.25 and fourth on the Floor (9.125) as well as fourth on the Bars. On the Vault she placed eighth. Thibert took third in the All Around with a score of 36.50.
The Level 4 Twister team once again brought home a team trophy. They took fourth place with a score of 109.125.
