Valley City Town & Country Club Men's Day Back after Rainouts

After weeks of poor Menâ€™s Day weather, golfers were very excited to get back to the course and swing the sticks. Bob Matthews started the day off with a long putt on Hole 1, and won a prize sponsored by Bank Forward. Pizza Ranch sponsored the Closest to the Pin contest on Hole 2, and it was claimed by Alex Bitz. Jamie Wirth took home the prize on Hole 3 for Closest Shot from Outside 50 Yards with an approach shot that settled nicely to the pin. Wirth continued his day with the Closest Second Shot on Hole 4, and won a prize sponsored by Taco Johnâ€™s.
Butch Flath sank a long putt on Hole 5 and won a prize from Sabirâ€™s
as veterans of the club continued their fine play. Charlie Brandenberg hit a close tee shot on Hole 6 to win the Labor Clubâ€™s prize. Wirth again claimed another Menâ€™s Day prize as he took home the Longest Drive of the Day on Hole 7 as he continued his sheer domination of the contests on the afternoon.
City Lights sponsored Hole 8â€™s prize, and it was won by Bob Bergan, who shaped a tee shot closest to the 150-yard marker. Kevin Jacobson drilled a long putt on Hole 9 to win a prize sponsored by Carpet Connection as the golfers retreated to the lounge to start their Fourth of July Weekend holiday.
Golfers returned from their Fourth of July weekend eager to stake their claims to the prizes of the day and enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the warm July sun. Mike Undem won the prize on Hole 1, sponsored by Bank Forward, for Longest Putt. Dale Sather finessed a tee shot on Hole 2 to claim the prize by Pizza Ranch for Closest to the Pin. Jack Egan swung steadily on the day and claimed the prize for Closest Shot from Outside 50 Yards on Hole 3. Taco Johnâ€™s sponsored the Closest Second Shot on Hole Four, and it was won by VCSU golf coach Jamie Paurus.
Sabirâ€™s sponsored the Long Putt of the Day on Hole Five, and the prize was claimed by Matthews, who sank a putt from long range. Jacobson continued his fine play on the summer and took home the Closest to the Pin contest on Hole 6, sponsored by the Labor Club. Dave Sather laced into a tee shot and won the prize of Longest Drive, sponsored by Burger King. City Lights sponsored the Closest to the 150-Yard Marker contest on Hole 8, and it was won by Tom Glandt. Not to be outdone by his son, Terry Glandt sank the long putt of the afternoon as he proudly marked his name on the contest marker and crossed out his sonâ€™s name to win a prize sponsored by Carpet Connection.
