Valley City State University football has finalized its 2014 schedule.
Head coach Dennis McCulloch announced that the Vikings open the 10-game regular season with a Thursday night, Aug. 28 home game against rival University of Jamestown, the first of two meetings with the Jimmies. VCSU also plays new North Star Athletic Association additions Dickinson State and Mayville State twice, and Dakota State, Waldorf College, Morningside College and Presentation College once.
Dickinson State and Waldorf raise the NSAA conference game count to six, the first of which takes place Sept. 13 at Dakota State. The first meetings with Jamestown, Mayville and Dickinson will be non-conference games.
For the fourth year in a row, Valley City State takes on Morningside College, a perennial NAIA playoff team. VCSU is 0-3 against the Mustangs the last three seasons, but will host Morningside on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Waldorf comes to Valley City on Oct. 4 for VCSU's Homecoming game.
Valley City State has home games against Jamestown, Morningside, Waldorf, Mayville and Dickinson State. Road contests are at Dakota State, Dickinson, Jamestown, Mayville and Presentation College.
