U.S., State and Local Officials Discuss Casselton

January 21, 2014

Officials at the U.S., state, and local levels discuss the Casselton train derailment and subsequent explosions that forced an evacuation of the city late last month.

U.S. Senators Heidi Heitkamp (D-NPL) and John Hoeven (R) along with U.S. Representative Kevin Cramer (R) and North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple (R), met Saturday with officials from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and other state and local officials to discuss what went wrong in Casselton on Dec. 30 when a train carrying N.D. Crude Oil derailed forcing an evacuation of the city, and what could be done to prevent other such tragedies.
