Undefeated Deacons Spike Hi-Liners

Hi-Liner volleyball (1-1, 5-3) looked to keep third place in the Eastern Dakota Conference as they hosted conference rival Shanley (3-0, 9-0) on Tuesday night after rallying from a two-set deficit in a 3-2 loss to Fargo Davies the night before.

Valley City kept it close in all three games, but Shanley powered to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) win.

Jessica Denholm led the Hi-Liners in assists with 23. Ellie Winter added three, and Danica Diegel two more.

Denholm connected on Valley City's lone ace and totaled 13 digs, Claire Olson 12, Dierra Diegel 11.

Danica Diegel notched two blocks.

Madison Taylor spiked nine kills, Danica Diegel seven, and Olson seven more.

Shanley's Hannah Krauter and Lauren Sandy tallied 12 assists, Andrea Vetter two more.

Lauren Sandy scored four aces. Krauter, Maddy Stark, and Sarah Jacobson all served three more.

Jacobson scooped 11 digs, Alivia Fraase nine, Lauren Sandy six.
Fraase elevated for two blocks. Stark, Andrea Vetter and Somer Bucholz added one of their own.

Fraase also spiked the Hi-Liners for 10 kills, Bucholz nine and Sarah Jacobson eight.

Valley City (1-2, 5-4) can rebound with a win against Wahpeton (1-1, 1-7) Thursday at 7 p.m. in Wahpeton.
