UND, NDSU discuss resuming football rivalry

May 18, 2012

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The athletic directors for the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State have been talking about resuming the schools’ football rivalry in three years, but more work needs to be done before the Fighting Sioux and Bison can meet again on the gridiron.
The schools have tentative game dates in Fargo in 2015 and in Grand Forks in 2017, UND athletic director Brian Faison said.
“Until contracts are signed, it’s still tentative,” he told the Grand Forks Herald. “We’ll be sending (NDSU) contract drafts ... the first of next week.”
NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor said no details have been worked out, and both university presidents likely will need to weigh in.
“Everyone is assuming (the rivalry) is renewed right now,” he told The Forum. “It’s not. I have to get together with Brian. I’ve said we have to get together and get things hammered out.”
