VCHS golf qualifies 3 for state meet
The Valley City High School golf team qualified three team members for state and placed fourth in a meet Monday in Wahpeton.
The Hi-Liners finished with a team score of 307, tying with West Fargo, who took third on a tie breaker.
Nick Jenson and Ben Sorenson both shot a 75 to tie for sixth place, and though Jared Lentz’s 78 didn’t place him, he joined them with a state qualifying score.
Fargo Shanley won the meet with a score of 295. West Fargo’s Connor Holland and Shanley’s Thomas Strandemo won the meet with a score of 70.
The golf team finishes the regular season May 30 at the Eastern Dakota Conference regional tournament in Fargo.
LLM, MVE baseball teams end season
The Enderlin/Maple Valley and LaMoure/Litchville-Marion baseball teams lost in regional play Monday.
EMV, who beat Hankinson-Fairmount 2-0 in a play-in game Friday, lost 3-2 to Central Cass in Hope.
LLM lost 11-10 to Northern Cass in 11 innings in Kindred.
Both teams had players named to the All-Region team.
EMV’s Thomas Lindgren was named to the All-Region 1 team, as were LLM’s Jared Meiklejohn and Tyler Thielges. Zach Stemens and Brady Thielges, both of LLM, were named honorable mention.
EMV softball starting post season
The Enderlin/Maple Valley starts its post season today with a South Region semi-final game with Hillsboro-Central Valley at 3:30 p.m. in Casselton.
With a win, EMV will clinch a spot at the state tournament, while a loss will put the team in a state qualifying game Thursday.
