McBride named DAC pitcher of the week
Valley City State University pitcher Katie McBride was named the Dakota Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Monday.
McBride, a senior from Grand Rapids, Minn., went 3-1 as the Vikings were 5-1 on the week. In her four outings, McBride pitched 26.2 innings, giving up seven runs, three earned, on 26 hits with 15 strikeouts and five walks.
It is the the second time this season McBride has been chosen as the DAC Pitcher of the Week.

VCSU football camp deadline Wednesday
The early deadline for the 2012 VCSU Vikings football camp is Wednesday.
The camp, for children in fifth through eighth grade, takes place May 2-3 at VCSU. The camp is staffed by the Viking coaches and includes a chance to shadow a VCSU player. The cost is $30 if enrolled by Wednesday and $35 after Wednesday.

DAC tourney schedules announced
The Valley City State baseball and softball teams received the schedules for the DAC tournaments this weekend in Mayville.
The VCSU softball team received the #3 seed in its double-elimination tournament and will start play at 2 p.m. Saturday against #2 Dickinson State University.
#4 Mayville State University plays #1 Jamestown College to kick off the tournament at noon Saturday.
The DAC baseball tournament will be a round robin tournament. Valley City plays Dickinson State Friday at 1 p.m. and then plays a double header Saturday starting at 1 p.m. against Mayville State. The Vikings then play Jamestown to wrap up the tournament.

VCHS tennis swept
The Valley City High School tennis team was swept 9-0 in a match at Fargo North Monday, but kept it close in four matches against the No. 3 team in the Eastern Dakota Conference.
