More prep sports starting
The Valley City High School girls tennis and boys golf teams start their seasons today.
The Hi-Liner boys start their season with a tournament at King’s Walk Country Club in Grand Forks. The girls will also be in Grand Forks against defending state champion Red River.
Results from both events will be in Wednesday’s Times-Record and season previews for both teams will be in the annual Spring Sports insert next week.

VCSU baseball schedule changed
The Valley City State University baseball team had its Monday double header with Jamestown postponed again.
The Vikings and Jimmies will play a double header today at 2 p.m. at Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown. The games were originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Due to the postponement, the Vikings’ game at Concordia College, originally scheduled for today, will be played at 4 p.m. Thursday in Moorhead, Minn.

VCSU golf takes 5th
The VCSU mens golf team took 5th place at the VCSU Spring Invitational, which took place at the Village Green Golf Course and Meadows Golf Course Sunday and Monday in Moorhead, Minn.
The Vikings’ Ryan LeNoue took eighth place with a score of 166 and Ryan Mehus tied for 10th with 168. Taylor Henrickson tied for 17th with a 176.
Moorhead-based Concordia College won the tournament with a total of 618 strokes and Jamestown College took second with 676. VCSU had 690.
Due to weather, the tournament’s schedule had to be altered. The teams played nine holes Sunday and then finished the tournament with 27 holes Monday.

VCSU women sign Minn. prep
Valley City State women’s basketball coach Jill DeVries announced in a release Monday that Ashli Lee, a high school senior in Minnesota, has chosen to continue her playing career for the Vikings.
Lee, a forward, led Robbinsdale-Cooper High School in scoring last season with 12.6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and had 68 steals and 25 blocks.
Lee started all 28 games for the Hawks and was named her team’s MVP as well as 2012 North Suburban all-conference as a senior and honorable-mention all-league as a junior.
“We are very excited about Ashli,” DeVries said. “She is a long athlete that can create havoc for opponents on the defensive end of the floor. She has steadily improved her offensive skill-set and will only get better as a collegiate player.”
