Valley City State senior offensive lineman George Trujillo and senior defensive back Pathen Asuncion have been voted 2014’s team captains by their teammates following the conclusion of spring practice, and two more captains will be named after fall camp.

Trujillo, an El Paso, Texas native, human services and psychology major and two-time All-Conference selection, returns from his 2013 team captainship.

Asuncion is a first-time team captain. A native of Waipahu, Hawaii and an exercise science major, Asuncion recorded 42 tackles last season. Viking football, seeking a fourth straight conference title, opens the season at home on Aug. 28 against North Star Athletic Association rival University of Jamestown.
