Tractor Fire Kills Man in Litchville

October 16, 2012

A weekend tractor fire in Barnes County killed an 87-year-old rural Litchville man, said Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin Monday afternoon.

McClaflin said that Wesley Ten Pas was burning a slough Saturday when the flames grew out of control and burned the tractor he was driving. “His tractor caught on fire, he tried to put it out, and the fire overtook him,” McClaflin said.

Ten Pas was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he died from his burns, McClaflin said.

Responding were the Litchville Fire Department and First Responders, Barnes County Ambulance and Barnes County Sheriff’s Department, McClaflin said.
