Tornado, Hail, Heavy Rain Hit Barnes County

Brian Fogarty/Special to the Times-Record Hail as large as 1.5 inches was reported falling in Valley City during Thursday's storm, according to the National Weather Service.

Mother Nature struck Valley City and Barnes County with a vengeance Thursday, with a tornado reported near Rogers, hail as large as 1.5 inches in diameter dropping in the city and 6.78 inches of rainfall just northwest of Valley City.
Valley City State University reported more than 4 inches of rain had fallen as of about 9 p.m. Thursday.
