William Jansen Invitational results
The Valley City High School girls and boys track and field teams took the second and 10th places, respectively, at the William Jansen Invitational meet Tuesday in Valley City.
The boys were led by pole vaulter Paul Viland, who took second with a vault of 12 feet, 6 inches. Distance runner Nick Lee took third in the 1,600 meter run and sixth in the 3,200 meter run.
Seniors Jenna Jacob and Allyson Suhr led the girls team, each getting a win.
Jacob won the 200 meter dash in 26.88 seconds and Suhr won the 3,200 in 12:26.38.
Jacob also was part of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams, which took first and second. The 4x200 qualified for state with their time of 1:50.09.
Other top finishers included sprinter Molly Willson, who was on the 4x100 and 4x200 teams, and took second place in the 100 meter dash. April Berntson took second in the 1,600 and fourth in the high jump.

VCHS baseball swept Tuesday
The Valley City High School baseball team lost a double-header to Wahpeton Wednesday.
The Hi-Liners lost 8-0 in game one and 15-3 in game two.
In the opener, Jaden Keys threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and six earned runs. Valley City was unable to get a hit in the seven innings.
In the second game, Austen Meyer started, allowing nine runs in three innings, but only four were earned. Austin Berg finished the game.
Brett Stearns, Spencer Meyer and Josh Magnuson all had hits for the Hi-Liners in the game.
The team takes a short break until May 11, when the Hi-Liners play a home double header against Fargo North.
EMV softball continues strong
The Enderlin/Maple Valley softball team picked up its sixth straight win Tuesday with a 20-1 home victory over Hillsboro-Central Valley.
The Falcons are now 6-1 and continue their season at Northern Cass today at 4 p.m.

Only a few local teams will be playing Thursday.
The Valley City High School and Junior High track teams both have meets in Fargo. The high school team is at Fargo Davies at 6 p.m. and the junior high team is at North Dakota State University at 4 p.m.
The Junior High baseball team plays a home game against Fargo South at 4:30 p.m. at Charlie Brown Field.
Maple Valley/Enderlin baseball plays a home game with West Fargoâ€™s JV squad at 5 p.m. The Falcon softball team plays at Northern Cass at 4:30 p.m.
