Two Valley City auto dealerships are moving, allowing both to continue to grow. Stoudt-Ross Ford plans to build a new facility on Winter Show Road, and Miller Motors will move into the existing Ford building.
Stoudt-Ross Ford owner Steve Ross said it's a great time to be in business in the Valley City area and North Dakota as a whole.
"We feel it's a perfect time to work on expanding both businesses, with a strong agriculture environment and all the other growth we're seeing in the Valley City area," he said citing growth at the Open Door Center, Valley City State University and John Deere.
Ross said they plan to start construction on the new, larger facility in the spring of 2014, and estimates it should take about six months to complete. The new location for the Ford dealership will be on Winter Show Road, south of Sabir's and east of the Wagon Wheel Inn.
The project started because of a Ford motors program called Ford Trustmark.
"What they'd like to see is similar buildings and sales processes throughout the country," Ross explained, and so "part of the program is to help out some on the financial end of things."
That coupled with a booming economy, "the opportunities all came together."
Manager Nate Kvilvang said, "It's because of the loyalty and patronage of our customers and hard work of our employees at both stores that we're able to grow and expand."
Ross added, "We'd ask them for their continued support."
He also thanks the Valley City City Commission for approving their five-year commercial property tax incentive. "We really appreciate their support," Ross said.
The last new dealership built in Valley City was the Ford facility in 1973, Ross said.
Miller Motors and Stoudt-Ross Ford are under common ownership but operate separately, as friendly competitors, Ross said.
