Sober Proms

Students at the Litchville-Marion prom last weekend all arrived sober. The school implemented breathalyzer testing for alcohol before students were admitted to the prom this year.

A new tradition has taken hold at area proms in the last several years. It's not a dress style or a special dance; it's breathalyzer tests.
Last weekend, Litchville-Marion students were asked to blow into a tube before gaining entrance to their prom, and on May 3, Valley City High School students will be asked to do the same.
According to VCHS principal Kristi Brandt, the school, which owns two breathalyzer units, has given the test to young men and women before prom for several years.
