Sheriff Catches Burglary Suspect

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin is asking people who have noticed items missing from their residences, especially along Peak Road and Kathryn Road, to contact the Sheriff’s office.

McClaflin said Tuesday that the Barnes County Sheriff’s Department has a 30-year-old woman in custody “for entering numerous homes in the Barnes County, specifically Peak Road (County Road 27 North), Kathryn Road (County Road 21 south), Valley City and Sanborn.”

McClaflin said the homes were unlocked, and “if confronted she usually made up a believable story of why she was in the residence.”

The suspect usually wore a ball cap and wore her hair in a pony tail, and drove away in a white mini van.

The sheriff said the incidents took place in August and September of this year.

Items taken the sheriff’s department is aware of include prescription drugs, loose change and cash.
