Sex Offender Arrested

A convicted sex offender, who eluded officials for about three weeks after failing to register, was arrested in Valley City Tuesday and is now in the Barnes County Correctional Facility.
Michael Allen Nelson was arrested in a house in southwest Valley City without incident, according to Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin.
Nelson is considered a lifetime high-risk offender who was convicted in 2009 for corruption/solicitation of a minor after having sex with a 14-year-old girl when he was 20.
At the time of his arrest, Nelson had outstanding warrants for failure to comply with registration requirements, failing 24/7 drug testing, actual physical control of a motor vehicle, no insurance, no insurance and failure to appear in court.
