The following news release comes from Sen. Byron Dorgan's office:

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Friday that he has secured important federal investments that will give a boost to jobs and health and human services projects in North Dakota.

Dorgan, a senior member of the Senate’s Appropriations Committee, secured the funding in the fiscal year 2011 Labor, Health and Human Services bill (Labor-HHS) as part of the Congressional appropriations process. The legislation will next go to the full Senate for approval.

The bill provides $450,000 to continue Minot State University’s (MSU) Community Research and Service program, $400,000 to establish a North Dakota State College of Science Bioscience Industry and Training Center (NDSCS), $350,000 to continue efforts at Valley City State University’s (VCSU) STEM Center, and $300,000 for additions at Dickinson State University’s (DSU) Theodore Roosevelt Center.

“This legislation contains significant investments in our universities and health-related initiatives,” Dorgan said. “Funding will give a boost to high-tech training and improve health-related resources for North Dakotans.”
