Semi Accident South of VC

April 28, 2014

A semi accident left a Nebraska man injured Tuesday when he lost control of the vehicle on Highway 1 south of Valley City.

Joshua Thompson, 29, of Lisco, Neb., was southbound on Highway 1, about 15 miles south of I-94, pulling an air seeder on a flatbed trailer when a wind gust of up to 40 miles per hour caused the vehicle to drift onto the west shoulder and partially into the west ditch, according to Sergeant Tom Herzig of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Thompson attempted to maintain control of the truck but the vehicle continued to slide into the ditch, causing the load to shift, said Herzig. The truck, trailer and load rolled onto its side on the southbound lane and the west ditch.

Litchville Fire and Rescue responded to the accident. Thompson was air-lifted to a Fargo hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
