School, Teachers Still at Impasse

Teachers and administrators look on as representatives of the Valley City Public Schools School Board and the Valley City Education Association discuss recommendations from a state fact-finding commission regarding teachers’ contract negotiations.

The Valley City Public Schools and the Valley City Education Association are still at impasse in contract negotiations.
During a hearing Wednesday at which the entities met to discuss recommendations from a state fact-finding commission regarding teacher's pay increases, payment of accumulated sick leave days upon teachers' retirement and the establishment of a health insurance committee to review the district's self-funded health insurance program, the school board and the teacher's association agreed on all of the recommendations as written in the fact-finder's report.
