Schelkoph accepts VC City Administrator job

December 20, 2011

Former Valley City resident David Schelkoph has taken the City Administrator position. Schelkoph was a 1978 graduate of VCHS.

David Schelkoph has accepted the position as Valley City's new City Administrator.

After screening over 30 applicants, Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven announced Tuesday morning that Schelkoph will start as early as the third week in January.

Schelkoph, currently of Williston, N.D., is a graduate of Valley City High School and works at Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing of Dickinson. He brings 8 years of military service with the Air Force and Air National Guard and a Bachelor's degree in engineering from NDSU to the administrator's chair.

"Dave has worked as a manager and administrator in the electric co-op and manufacturing sectors, and we think that with his engineering background, he will be an excellent fit for Valley City with all the infrastructure issues we deal with," said Werkhoven.

According to City Auditor Avis Richter, the appointment of the City Administrator is on the January 3, 2012 agenda for City Commission approval.

I'm sure Mr Schelkoph understands fully the havoc those Citizens for Community Insurrection have/can cause. As much as I grieve the needless loss of the previous Administrator due their antics, I think it is wonderful we've hired a qualified individual who will also understand the shenanigans those people pull and he has the backing of the whole body of commissioners and the mayor. Welcome this exile back to Valley City with open arms! Many of us have wanderered this land only to find ourselves yearning to be back in this little village.
