Ruth Faul, 96, Harvey, ND died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday July 27 at the Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the Country Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Ruth was born on February 8, 1917 near Mercer, ND. She was the daughter of Christian and Kathryn (Eiezemann) Fischer. She grew up and attended school near Mercer and worked for several families in the Benedict and Max areas. Ruth married Arthur Faul on May 31, 1936 near Harvey. They lived and farmed south of Harvey on the Faul family farm. They moved into Harvey and enjoyed many retirement years there. Arthur died on September 23, 1997. She lived with her daughter in Fargo for several years before returning to reside at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Ruth was known for her cooking and hospitality. She grew huge gardens of flowers and vegetables and canned the bountiful harvests.
Ruth was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. She had accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was a child and tried to live her spiritual life as an example to her family and friends. She read the bible daily and prayed with heartfelt concern for people in this lost world.
Ruth is survived by her son Curtis (Marge) Faul of Valley City, ND; two daughters, Barbara (Orin) Skaurud and Kathy (Darryl) Willert, all of Fargo; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gertrude Berg of Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Allen; grandson, Kelly; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emil and Ella, Albert, Carl, August and Emma, Fred and Elsie.
