Each cancer survivor was given a purple carnation before beginning the survivors lap Friday during the Barnes County Relay for Life.
Cancer survivors, caretakers, friends and family walked together Friday to fight against cancer during the Barnes County Relay for Life.
In a new downtown location, the Relay was held Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight on Central Avenue. The evening started with a survivors reception at 5 p.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.
Funds raised from the annual event go to the American Cancer Society, which sponsors Relay for Life, to find cures and fight back against cancer.
Not only does the Relay raise funds and awareness of cancer, it gives survivors a chance to share their stories.
