"Rally for Malley" raises $12,000 for local family

November 3, 2011

Basketball hoops were just one of the inflatable games provided for the younger crowd at the Rally for Malley on Oct. 27

Hundreds of community members turned out on Oct. 27th to raise money for Valley City resident Malley Aufenkamp. Organizers estimated that nearly $12,000 was raised at the benefit, 400 community members attended, and 35-40 volunteers from local churches participated. Attendees enjoyed a pasta supper, bake sale, silent auction and carnival games. Malley suffers from biliary atresia and is currently on the list to await a liver transplant. Due to an unrelated viral illness, Malley was in the hospital in Fargo and unable to attend, according to family members. All funds raised at the benefit will go to offset medical costs for the Aufenkamps.
