Post 60 Splits with Casselton

July 9, 2014

(Jake McNeal/Times-Record) Masyn Olsen, left, pitched four innings for 10 first-pitch strikes, five runs and a strikeout in Tuesday’s 9-3 non-League loss to Casselton at Charlie Brown Field.

Jake Miller, right, worked the fifth inning of the 9-3 non-League loss for four first-pitch strikes, four runs and a strikeout.

Legion Post 60 found balance in Tuesday’s League game against visiting Casselton, stacking up 13 hits and allowing only two in a 9-4 win before Casselton scored eight runs between the fourth and fifth innings of the non-Leaguer for the 9-3 win.

“We’re never going to be a team that doesn’t hit the ball,” said Post 60 head coach Kyle Roelfsema of Valley City’s aggressive attitude in the opener.

Post 60 completes the season series 2-1 against Casselton, having taken June 24’s League game 9-6 on the road before the non-League game was not completed with an 8-5 Casselton lead.
