Pitcher Wins Bet With Grandma

Valley City's Jacquette "Ketta" Stricklin holds the $1,000 check she has given grandson Ty Buttrey in return for his winning a bet he would not smoke or drink alcohol before his 21st birthday. Monday was his 21st birthday.

Baseball pitcher Ty Buttrey, drafted two years ago by the Boston Red Sox, has won a $1,000 bet with his grandmother, Valley City's Jacquette "Ketta" Stricklin, who was also an athlete. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.
