Packers Blank Hi-Liners

September 12, 2013

Hi-Liner tennis (1-3 EDC, 1-3 overall) looked to make it two wins in a row as West Fargo (4-1, 8-1) came to town for a conference match on Tuesday night.

The veteran Packers had other ideas, and came away with a 9-0 win.
"(Packers Coach) Chad Anderson has done a great job with his program," VCHS Tennis Head Coach Matt Nielson said. "He has four seniors playing on his varsity team (at) No. 4, 5, 6, and 7. He said as 7th graders, these kids did not win a match on JV, but this crew of kids has worked hard over the years in the off-season and now constitute probably the second-best line-up in the state. Chad sees potential in my young players, but he reminded me that it will be up to how hard they work and if they want to get better."

In singles, Derek Reimers lost to Brady Ballweber, 6-2, 6-0. Dustin Miller lost to North Knewtson, 6-2, 6-1. Dalton Ondracek lost to Keyan Farahmand, 6-0, 6-1. Brandon Miller lost to Nick Sikorski, 6-0, 6-2. Evan Haglund lost to Brendan Walker, 6-0, 6-1. Sam Jenson lost to Drew Kooyer, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Reimers and D.Miller lost to Ballweber/Michael Holland, 6-4, 6-4. Ondracek and B.Miller lost to Farahmand/Walker, 6-1, 6-1. Haglund and Jenson lost to Knewtson/Sikorski, 6-0, 6-0.

"A theme that came through today was that West Fargo won the big points today, including deuce points," Nielson said. "A big part of tomorrow's practice will be pressure points before Fargo North on Thursday (4 p.m. at VCHS)."
