New Hi-Liner Basketball Coach Announced

Valley City Public Schools is excited to announce that Mr. Waylon Starr has been named the new Hi-Liner girls' head basketball coach.

Starr is in his seventh year as an educator in Valley City and will begin his second stint as head coach of the girls basketball program. Mr. Starr has been directly involved with the girls' basketball program for six years as an assistant coach, head coach, and athletic director.
Starr is a graduate of Bisbee-Egeland High School, he attended the University of N.D. and graduated with a degree in Social Science/History Education. He recently received his Masters Degree from the University of North Dakota.

Starr began his teaching career at Powers Lake, ND where he was the head coach of both the girls' and boys' basketball teams. Starr also previously served as the head girl’s coach at Kindred High School. During his tenure at Kindred, his teams advanced to the state tournament two years consecutively earning 3rd and 5th place finishes.
Starr is excited to be given the opportunity to lead the girls' basketball program, and looks forward to working with the student-athletes of Valley City Public School.

Starr is married to his lovely wife Ranetta and has two daughters, Stephanie a senior at the University of North Dakota and Amanda, a senior at Valley City High School.
