New Assessor for Valley City

December 17, 2012

The City of Valley City has a new assessor as of Nov. 13. Sandy Hansen replaces Nick Lee, who worked for the city for three-and-a-half years.
Hansen previously worked for the Barnes County Tax Equilization Office and Valley City Times-Record.
She said she's had a busy first few weeks in her new job.
"Valley City's housing market is growing pretty fast, and I'm just trying to keep up," she said.
Hansen said she's currently working on doing another mass appraisal throughout Valley City, a project that Lee had started.
"There was a mass appraisal in town in 2004, and the state recommends re-looking at properties every six to 10 years," she said.
Hansen, who grew up in Moorhead, and her husband Scott, who grew up in Valley City, moved to Valley City in 2003.
The couple has three grown children and three grandchildren.
Hansen said she's met a lot of people living and working here for the past several years and really likes Valley City.
"I'm really happy to call it home," she said.
"I really like the office; I really like the people here," Hansen said.
