Nelson's Single Completes Valley City Babe Ruth's Sweep

June 4, 2014

(Jake McNeal/Times-Record) Nate Rodriguez one-hit LaMoure in Tuesday’s Valley City 12-2, five-inning Babe Ruth opening win before Bryce Nelson’s two-out, fifth-inning walk-off single completed the 11-10 comeback in game two.

It took all five innings of Tuesday’s late game for Valley City Babe Ruth to sweep LaMoure at Charlie Brown Field, but Bryce Nelson’s walk-off single capped an 11-10 comeback after Nate Rodriguez’s one-hitter in the 12-2 five-inning opener.

“Games like these make you old quick,” said head coach Lance Lukes of the second game, in which Valley City gave up leads of 5-1 and 6-2.
