Returning to Music at the Courthouse Lawn will be âThe Meyer Familyâ from Valley City on Wednesday, July 18, beginning at 7:15 p.m..
Randie Meyer, son of DeMar and Shirley Meyer and Katie, daughter of Clarence and Lillie Olson, have been married for forty-two years. Their four children have been singing since they were two years old and now the fifteen grandchildren are asked to help âPass the Faith Alongâ as one of the songs says.
Randie and Katie have been singing since high school days. Katie is not sure why Mr. (John) Reed put up with them, but is so glad he did. He taught them so much! Randie began singing with the Gospel Lighthouse Quartet in 1974. They made four recordings. The lead singer bowed out and Katie took his place in the â90âs and sang with the quartet until a few years ago when they stopped singing as a group.
Music at the Courthouse is co-sponsored by KOVC, the Valley City Parks & Recreation District and the Bridges Arts Council. A free will offering is taken to assist in âSaving the Bandshellâ. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the City Auditorium.
