RedHawks beat T-Bones 3-1
FARGO — Fargo/Moorhead RedHawks starter Tyler Herron struck out eight batters and gave up only one earned run in over seven innings a the 3-1 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones Sunday at Newman Outdoor Field.
Herron picked up his third win of the season improving his record to 3-3 on the season. Herron pitched into the eighth inning with only four hits allowed until he gave up a home run to Spiker Helms and a single to Justin Bass. Reliever Joe Harris picked up two strikeouts in the eighth and Tom Boleska capped off the ninth with his American Association leading 15th save of the season.
 “I came out a little sluggish,” Herron said. “Luckily for me the breaking ball was working and I got some good outs. Getting ahead today was a big thing and throwing quality pitches.”
The RedHawks had a 2-0 margin in the fourth after RBI singles by Ryan Delgado and Marcos Rodriguez scored Buddy Sosnoskie and Jon Gaston. Ryan Delgado hit a home run in the sixth to extend the Fargo-Moorhead lead to 3-0.
Delgado was 2-3 with his eighth home run of the season and two RBI and Zach Penprase was 2-4 to lead the RedHawks at the plate.
Fargo-Moorhead (27-21) has a six-game winning streak heading into Monday’s night’s game against Kansas City.

Babe Ruth at home today
The Valley City Babe Ruth baseball team plays a home double header tonight with Oakes. Games will start at 5 p.m. at Charlie Brown Memorial Field.
The team’s games in Jamestown Friday were cancelled due to rain early in the day that left Jack Brown Stadium unplayable in time for the early afternoon start, coach Lance Lukes said. The games will not be made up.

Valley City Jr. Open tennis tournament
accepting registration
Online registration is open for the 2012 Valley City Jr. Open tennis tournament, which will take place July 20-21.
The USTA-sanctioned Level 6 tournament is open to boys aged 10-18 and girls aged 10-18.
Entry is $35 per player, although a USTA membership is required.
