Two Vikings named All-A.I.I.
The Valley City State University baseball team had two players named to the Association of Independent Institutionsâ€™ All-Conference second team.
Valley City native Preston Jensen was named to the team as an outfielder.
Jensen led the Vikings with a .385 average and had seven doubles, 16 RBI and nine stolen bases. In the field he committed only one error.
He was joined on the team by pitcher Ronnie Blagg, who went 4-4 with a 2.31 earned run average. Of the 37 runs he allowed this season, only 16 were earned. He was second on the team with 47 strikeouts.
VCHS golf team takes 6th
The Valley City High School golf team took 6th place at the East West Classic Classic Friday and Saturday in Wahpeton.
The meet featured all 19 Class A schools in the sport.
Ben Sorenson led the Hi-Liners with a tie for 12th place, shooting 157 over the two days. Teammate Nick Jenson tied for 14th with 158.
West Fargoâ€™s Connor Holland won the meet with a 143 and the Packers won the meet with a score of 601.
The Hi-Liners return to Wahpeton May 21 for a meet.
VCHS baseball loses
The Valley City High School baseball team lost 23-1 at home Friday to Fargo North.
The Hi-Liners (0-13) play Devils Lake (1-10) in a double header at 4 p.m. today at Charlie Brown Field.
VCHS track does well in Casselton

The Valley City High School girls and boys track teams took second and third in the Central Cass Invitational Thursday in Casselton.
The Hi-Liner girls finished four points behind the winner. The Hi-Liners won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter relays. There were also second place finishes from Abby Brown (long jump), Natalie Ley (3,200), April Berntson (1,600), Jenna Jacob (400, 200) and the 400 relay team.
The boys had wins by pole vaulter Paul Viland and distance runner Casey Engelhard in the 800 meter run. Nick Lee took second place in the 3,200 run, Kyle Knutson took second in the discus and Engelhard took second in the high jump.
