Miriam F. Grieger
Miriam F. Grieger, age 80 of Valley City and formerly of Tower City died Oct. 19, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Valley City with Rev. Fred Morrison officiating. Visitation will be from 4PM until 7 PM Tuesday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City, ND.
Miriam F. Preston, daughter of Edgar and Harriet (Collins) Preston was born Nov. 27, 1931 on the Preston Homestead in Cornell Township, Cass County, ND. She attended grade school at Cornell School District No. 48 and then attended Tower City High School, graduating in 1949. From there she attended college in Valley City and then taught at the Beaver School near Page, ND. On May 18, 1951 she married David Keys. They made their home south of Tower City and had four children. Miriam was involved as a 4-H leader and belonged to the local Homemakers Club. She had been active in the First Presbyterian Church in Tower City and later the First Church of the Nazarene in Valley City. Besides having taught school Miriam worked at various places including the Tower City Café, Tower City Motel, ServiceMaster, and cooked for the Tower City Senior Citizens. On Oct. 19, 1985 she married Ralph Grieger and they made their home in Tower City. She and Ralph enjoyed traveling together and visiting with relatives and friends. She will fondly remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking and her beautiful crocheting.
Miriam is survived by her husband, Ralph Grieger of Fargo, her four children: Jerrold (Patty) Keys, Tower City, ND, Ronald (Sherry) Keys, Valley City, ND, Marsha (Nick) Holden, Page, ND, and Alan (Jane) Keys, Erie, ND; and 3 step-daughters: Barbara Grossmann of West Fargo, Maxine (Clayton) Bye of Fargo, and Jill McLeod of West Fargo.
4 grandchildren Tom Erickson, Andrea Keys, Jaden Keys, and Adam Keys, and 16 step-grandchildren. A brother Floyd (Kathy) Preston of Tower City, ND also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Wilbur “Bill” Preston.
