Microphone Replica Stolen from Museum

March 25, 2014

This replica of an antique microphone was recently stolen from the Barnes County Historical Society Museum.

A replica of an antique microphone was recently stolen from the Barnes County Historical Society Museum.

Not a real microphone, the replica is actually made of a coffee pot heating element and two sink drain plugs fashioned to make it look like a microphone. An NBC logo on the device is also a replica, according to Wes Anderson, museum curator.

"It is fake and has no monetary value," said Anderson. The device may have been missing for a week.
The microphone replica is on loan by an area resident and Anderson would like to give it back to its owner. While a police report was filed, Anderson only wants the microphone replica returned.

"If it returns, there will be no questions asked and no further issue made of it," said Anderson.

Anyone with information regarding the missing microphone should contact the Valley City Police Department at (701) 845-3110.
