Marilyn (Benzinger) Denning
Marilyn (Benzinger) Denning, 84, of Enderlin and formerly of Valley City went home to heaven to be with her loved ones on Oct. 7, 2013. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday Oct. 11th at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Thursday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Burial will take place in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Valley City.
Marilyn was born Feb. 26, 1929 in Enderlin, ND to John and Valborg Benzinger. She grew up in Valley City where she attended school. On Nov. 5, 1948 she married the love of her life, Paul Denning Sr. Marilyn loved her job at Mercy Hospital, working there for 40 plus years. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, the DAV Aux., and the AmVets Aux. She was a die-hard Twins fan and loved attending her grandson and great grandson’s sporting events. She will be mostly remembered for her warm smile, comforting hugs, amazing cookies, and her great sense of humor. Her gifts of bulk ketchup, pickles, TP, and paper towels will always be a treasured memory. She was and is the best mother, grandmother, and great grandma anyone could have ever asked for and is greatly loved and missed.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Paul, Las Vegas, NV, Mary (Michael) Marshburn, Virginia Beach, VA, Lori Ann (Wendell) Nelson, Enderlin, ND, and Tim (Carolyn) Ryerson, Sweeny, TX, 5 grandchildren, Maureen, Hope (Travers), Megan (Jay), Dustin, and Shannon, 5 greatgrandchildren Caleb, Darren, Hunter, Shelby, and Kailyn. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Blackham, Helper, UT and Betty Lou Anderson, Lompoc, CA, and 2 brothers Dale (Lorraine) Benzinger, Portland, OR and Robert Benzinger, Colton, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, brother John, sisters-in-law Eileen Benzinger and Vala Benzinger, and brothers-in-law Charles Blackham and Hjalmer Anderson.
