VCSU women get NCAA DII transfer
Valley City State University women’s basketball coach Jill DeVries announced today that Paige Tompkins, a transfer from NCAA Division II Bemidji State University has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and basketball career at VCSU.
Tompkins, a 6’1’ post player from Milnor, transfers after completing her freshman year of eligibility at Bemidji. Last season she averaged five minutes of playing time in 17 games for the Beavers, and finished with 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
Tompkins lettered in four sports at Milnor High School and will join the VCSU golf team as well.
“Paige is a great addition to our women’s basketball program. She is a dual threat with her ability to shoot the three as well as be an offense presence in the paint for us next season.” DeVries said.
In her career at Milnor High School, Tompkins scored over 1,000 career points and nabbed over 1,000 career rebounds. She was a three-time all-district and two-time All-Wild Rice conference performer, as well as a 2011 Lion’s Class B All-Star.
