No. 5 Maple Valley girls basketball beat Wyndmere/Lidgerwood 52-37 on Tuesday night, a contest in which sophomore forward Rylee Nudell scored half of the Lady Raider points with 26 on 6-of-8 free throw shooting. Junior guard Katie Pautz put up 11 points and junior center Megan Kasowski 10 more on 4-of-6 free throw shooting as Maple Valley led 19-4 after a quarter, 27-14 at halftime and 40-24 after three.
Warbirds sophomore center Anna Mauch racked up 19 points to lead her team.
Maple Valley then took down District 2 rival Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 57-26 on Thursday night, completing a perfect 8-0 District 2 record and an 18-1 overall career, the only flaw of which came against Shiloh Christian, 54-27, on Dec. 27.
The top-seed Lady Raiders, three-time defending Barnes County Tournament champions, have won 16 in a row and face eighth-seed Richland in Round 1 of the District 2 Tournament, 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Fargo Civic Center.View more articles in:
