Members from the Sheyenne Valley Garden Club and other local gardeners showed their favorite flowers during the 28th annual flower show show.

The show, hosted by the garden club, was held Monday. Gardeners entered their most prestigious flowers and bouquets from their garden in this year’s show, called “Garden Favorites.”

A public viewing was held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eagles Aerie.

Gardeners competed in horticulture divisions, which were based on single specimens of flowers, and artistic divisions, which featured bouquets made with a variety of flowers.

Darlene Mueller, president of the Sheyenne Valley Garden Club said each variety of flower has its own class in the horticulture division.

Mueller received merit awards for some of her flowers and bouquets. She said she likes gardening because it’s a way to be outside and enjoy nature.

“To get special awards is exciting because it’s what you work hard for,” she said.

Another merit award recipient and past president of the garden club Coni Horsager has been interested in gardening her whole life because her grandmothers always had gardens. She enjoys doing design as well.
