Local Band Performing Benefit Show: Proceeds to Assist Band Students
All funds raised from a local rock group's concert in June will benefit area band students. Valley City-based band Madeuce (M2) will start off a weekend of live music in Valley City by performing an all-ages show at the Teen Center June 14, the night before Rally in the Valley community days events and street dance. All money collected from the suggested $4 admission fee will help provide instruments to local band students.
Band members of M2 are Jeff Bergner, lead vocals; Eric Peterson, guitar, harmonica and vocals; Cole Mooridian, guitar and vocals; Dusty Meyer, guitar; Chris Olson, bass guitar; and Roy Dilts, drums, all of Valley City.
Dilts, who owns Really Big Music, started raising funds for band students last summer during a scholarship dance and jam session. The June 14 show will be the second annual fundraiser, but instead of a jam session, the band will perform for the audience.
Dilts said they'll play classic rock and roll along with some newer rock music.
"We're trying to keep the energy up; we don't have many slow songs," he said.
"Even the songs that are historically played slower, we (play faster)," Olson added.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. Friday, and M2 will perform through the evening. Another local band, Three Card Molly, will also play.
