A young group of local musicians will perform for their hometown crowd as they open at the street dance during this year's Rally in the Valley community days. The band, called Three Card Molly, hopes to draw a large crowd and continue playing gigs throughout the summer.
The Valley City-based band will first play an all-ages "summer kick-off" show at Moon Lake southwest of Valley City on Friday, May 24 from 8 to 11 p.m., and then they'll perform from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Broken Spoke parking lot as the opening act to Twin Cities-based band 8 Foot 4 for the street dance.
Band members Channing Minnema, 15, lead vocals; Chance Stearns, 17, guitar; Joey Bowen, 19, guitar; Alex Alebertt, 19, bass guitar; and Alex Mooridian, 19, drums, have been playing together as a band for only a short time, but they have a busy summer planned and hope to expand their tour outside of the state.
