Lentz Makes State, VC Boys Golf 9th at King's Walk

Hi-Liner junior Jared Lentz qualified for State with Thursday’s 78 at King’s Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks, N.D., from which Valley City came away with ninth place for two event points at 341.

“The team struggled a bit today in conditions that were a bit chilly, but not very windy,” Valley City head coach Buff Murray said.

Freshman Levi Nix shot an 86, sophomore Collin Hoss an 88, freshman Drew Oberlander an 89, senior Dustin Miller a 99 and sophomore Jordan Eggermont a 105.

West Fargo senior Riley Johnson won the Invite with a 69. Grand Forks Red River won the team competition with a 302.

West Fargo tops the team standings with 44 points through six meets, Red River and Fargo Davies tied for second with 43, Fargo Shanley fourth with 38, Fargo North fifth with 31, Grand Forks Central sixth with 26, Valley City seventh with 18, Fargo South eighth with 15, Wahpeton ninth with 12 and Devils Lake 10th with five.

Johnson is the Eastern Dakota Conference’s top golfer with an average of 73. Lentz’s 80.80 average has him at a tie for eighth.

Hoss averages a 90.40, Oberlander a 91.60, Nix a 93.00, Miller a 93.20, junior Ian Schweitzer a 95.67 through three meets, Eggermont a 105.00 through one meet.

Valley City heads to Wahpeton for Monday’s Invite at Bois de Sioux Golf Course.

The State Tournament is June 3-4 at Jamestown Country Club.
