Legion Post 60 Swept at Wahpeton

Legion Post 60 ventured to Wahpeton on Thursday, falling 2-1 in the League game and 11-0 in the hitless five-inning non-League finisher.

Post 60 scored a run in the top of the sixth League inning, but Whapeton answered with two in the home half and shut Post 60 out of the seventh.

Dalton Ondracek and Chase Carpenter landed two hits in the contest.

Jesse Johnson pitched 5.1 innings for 13 first-pitch strikes and set down four batters. Austin Berg worked the final two outs of the fifth for a first-pitch strike and a strikeout.

Legion picked up six hits, Wahpeton four hits and an error.

Wahpeton scored a run in the non-League first and second, then tacked on nine in the fourth and shut Post 60 out of the top of the fifth.

Wahpeton went for nine hits, Post 60 three errors.

Ondracek and Johnson both drew a walk.

Ondracek threw four innings for 17 first-pitch strikes and four strikeouts.

Post 60 (3-12) heads to Casselton, N.D. on Saturday and Harvey, N.D. on Monday.

Legion took June 24’s League game at Casselton 9-6 before Casselton won the non-Leaguer, 8-5. Post 60 beat Casselton 9-4 at home on July 8 before Casselton took the non-Leaguer, 9-3.

Harvey took July 11’s League game in Valley City, 8-4, and the non-Leaguer, 8-0.

Regionals begin July 23 in Grafton, N.D.
