Hi-Liner senior forward Dierra Diegel and senior guard Jessica Denholm had the hot hands Tuesday night as Valley City took down Wahpeton, 61-46, on the road to complement Jan. 28's 54-38 National Guard Night triumph over the Huskies at Valley City State's W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.
Diegel rounded up 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor, 2-of-3 from three-point range, 6-of-9 from the free throw line, six rebounds and five steals. Denholm drew up 14 points on 5-of-10 inside the arc.
Huskies senior guard Lachelle Bumgarner led Wahpeton with 29 points, went 9-of-11 at the line and pulled down seven rebounds. Freshman forward Tylee Irwin put up 14 points on 5-of-10 from the floor.
Valley City (10-7 Eastern Dakota Conference, 13-5 overall), winners of seven of their last 10 games, completes the regular season at home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Fargo South (6-11 EDC, 6-12 overall). The Hi-Liners previously defeated the Bruins 50-36 at South on Jan. 21.
Snow Week Royalty Coronation and the announcement of this year's King and Queen will take place at 5:15 p.m. Thursday following the conclusion of the junior varsity girls' game. At halftime of Thursday's varsity game, the Hi-Liner Booster Club and athletic department will honor those who have donated to Valley City High School's Hi-Liner Strength and Conditioning Center renovation fundraiser.View more articles in:
