Kris Kitko entertains on VCSU campus

April 16, 2012

Kris Kitko performed at Vangstad Auditorium on Sunday as part of a “What In The World Is Going On” presentation that was postponed from January.

Kris Kitko, a singer, songwriter, humorist, activist, educator, storyteller, activist, and more, entertained an audience at the Vangstad Auditorium at Valley City State University.

“A troubadour for troubled times” as she bills herself, Kitko hit on topics that ranged from women’s issues to politics with a comedic yet poignant flair.

“I spent about three and a half years here,” Kitko said prior to the concert, in which she played a love song dedicated to Valley City as her opening number.

“I had to do that just so you know we’re all friends here,” she told the crowd.

Kitko’s visit was postponed from a scheduled January appearance, where the weather kept her away.

Her concert was sponsored by “What In The World Is Going On,” a VCSU and community collaboration “to bring pertinent current topics to the community,” said co-organizer Sharon Buhr.

Kay Kringlie introduced Kitko, while announcing the 10-year anniversary of the group’s existence.

“What in the world is kind of a bulky name, but it says what we do,” she said.
